AI is becoming a major force in game production. The 2026 Gamescom Dev Speaker Survey found that 47% of respondents expect AI-assisted development to have the biggest industry impact over the next three years, while 83% expect AI to influence team structure or productivity.
However, AI is not replacing core development expertise. The survey found 36% expect development roles to change, while 33% anticipate smaller teams, pointing toward workflows that combine AI tools with experienced developers, artists, designers, animators, and QA teams.
For a modern Game Development Studio, the focus can be on combining AI-assisted workflows with human creativity and technical expertise to build scalable games across development, multiplayer, art, animation, testing, and optimization.
