Are there any decent rock concerts in San Diego?

Garreth
I moved to San Diego not that long ago. Before that I was living in this small town where basically nothing happened music-wise, except maybe some local country singers doing shows once in a while. I'm into rock, the heavier stuff, and I'd love to actually catch concerts like that. So how often do those come through San Diego, or does everyone just end up driving to LA for anything that actually matters?

Yeah, LA's got way more going on, and sometimes a big name band comes through there but skips San Diego, so a lot of people just drive up to LA in that case. But overall, plenty of solid bands actually do these mini tours through California. They hit San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Diego too.

Our city's huge, and there's plenty of people out there who love heavy guitar riffs and blast beat drumming. So big-name rock bands coming through here isn't rare at all. You can keep an eye on rock concerts in San Diego yourself here: https://myrockshows.com/location/223-san-diego-ca/ . Check it often so you don't miss a band that's actually worth catching.

San Diego actually has a pretty solid rock scene. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park and Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre book some big names regularly. Also worth checking House of Blues — smaller acts stop there often. Definitely worth staying local rather than always driving up to LA.
